A report on Wednesday suggested that Mumbai Indians’ batsman Suryakumar Yadav would join the team soon after getting a clearance from the NCA. Now, a fresh report in Cricbuzz says that the explosive batsman will join the team on Friday, April 5. The world’s no. 1 T20I batsman, Surya has been out of action since December 2023, and had last played in the series against South Africa.
During the same series, he suffered a grade II tear in his ankle, that required a surgery. Post that, he suffered a post-op hernia, and has been in a rehab at NCA since. He also underwent a surgery for sports hernia then, that eventually delayed his return to the cricket field.

Suryakumar Yadav Might Have to Wait
Surya is expected to join the MI camp at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, while the team is scheduled to play their next match on Sunday against Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, it is still not clear whether he will play that match on not and his fitness will be assessed thororughly.
Having said that, Mumbai need its best player badly, after the team has gone on to lose three back-to-back matches. New captain Hardik Pandya has been under severe criticism and nothing seems to be working for them at the moment. Batting has been a bit of a weak point for them in this season, with Rohit Sharma not firing as well.
