Dhoni Mystery: Will Ranchi see its beloved son during IND vs ENG Test?

MS Dhoni's connection to Ranchi is undeniable. He played a pivotal role in bringing international cricket to the city, and his presence during the 2013 ODI against England remains etched in fans' memories.

India vs England 4th Test (IND vs ENG): The air at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi is always electric when India plays, but with the fourth Test against England ongoing, one question hangs heavy: Will Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni), Ranchi’s cricketing icon, be present to witness the action?

MS Dhoni legacy in Ranchi:

MS Dhoni’s connection to Ranchi is undeniable. He played a pivotal role in bringing international cricket to the city, and his presence during the 2013 ODI against England remains etched in fans’ memories.

While MSD hasn’t played at the stadium since 2019, his aura lingers.

Will MSD Grace the Occasion?

JSCA officials remain coy about Dhoni’s potential appearance. While one suggests his absence is likely, another leaves a glimmer of hope with the cryptic “you never know.”

“No, he’s unlikely to be present this time,” said one of the JSCA (Jharkhand State Cricket Association) officials as per the Telegraph.

“When it’s about MS Dhoni, you never know. He might just turn up one day since the Indian team is playing at his hometown,” another JSCA official said.

MS Dhoni training for IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain spent weeks training at the stadium recently for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). However, he left before the India vs England 4th Test and is expected back only in March.

Dhoni’s Influence on the Current Team:

Even in his absence, MS Dhoni’s impact resonates. Young players like Dhruv Jurel dream of meeting their idol, highlighting the lasting inspiration he provides.

A Match Awaits, a City Hopes:

While MS Dhoni’s presence remains uncertain, Ranchi eagerly awaits for India’s win in the fourth Test. Whether MS Dhoni graces the occasion or not, his legacy in the city and on Indian cricket remains undimmed.

The roar of the crowd will surely carry a tinge of hope, a silent wish to see their beloved son back where he belongs.
