Mohammed Shami joined new outfits Gujarat Titans back in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction for a price of 6.25 crores. He instantly went on to become a hit. He bagged 20 wickets and then followed it up with 28 wickets in 2023 to win the purple cap. But Shami missed IPl 2024 entirely after having undergone the knife on his ankle injury.

Will GT retain Mohammed Shami?
It will be interesting to see if Gujarat Titans retain Shami or not. But if sane minds are to prevail then retaining Shami would be a no-brainer. As per the rules, the retention list is slated to be released by each and every franchise by the 31st October of 2024.
“I don’t know anything about this. The decision lies firmly with the franchise. If they feel the need to retain me, then they will. Otherwise, they won’t. I haven’t had any word with them so far, but if they do give the option, then who would refuse them?,” Mohammed Shami told SportsTak.
As things stand, Shami is currently recovering from his injury. He is eager to play a couple of Ranji Trophy matches before being 100% fit for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy.
