KL Rahul is currently under scanner for his poor performances in ODIs

After the conclusion of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, India’s next big assignment will be the ICC Champions Trophy. And a major doubt in the squad selection will be on KL Rahul. The ace batter is now not a part of the T20I setup and it remains to be seen as to what happens in his ODI career.

There has been quite a speculation in the media about KL Rahul‘s selection chances in the India Cricket Team for the ICC Champions Trophy. KL Rahul too hasn’t been a regular in red-ball cricket and speculations have revealed that his chances in ODIs can well be dwindled out.

No KL Rahul for ICC Champions Trophy?

KL Rahul’s position in the India Cricket Team is in major doubt. The slow strike rate for KL Rahul has become a major bane for the veteran batter, Furthermore, his performances in ODIs have created doubts after his recent performances in Sri Lanka. Adding more concerns is the inclusion of Rishabh Pant.

KL Rahul played well for India in the ODI World Cup. He was also the number 1 keeper in the team as there was no Rishabh Pant in the team. Ishan Kishan continued to be the backup keeper of the team.

Current Selection Landscape

As things stand, there are also quite a few batters who can take up his spot. Apart from being a keeper, there are also the likes of Dhruv Jurel, and Sarfaraz Khan who will be desperate to get their chance in the team.

And with stern scrutiny on the team, KL Rahul’s performances in team will now be observed. While all things are at play, it is imperative that KL would be selected. He not only brings stability to the team but also provides a very good batting and keeping option in the team.
