Will Dhruv Jurel replace Rishabh Pant in IND vs NZ 2nd Test?

Substitute Dhruv Jurel stepped in to perform wicket-keeping duties in the IND vs NZ 1st Test match.

IND vs NZ 2nd Test: Dhruv Jurel filled in for the injured Rishabh Pant in the last concluded IND vs NZ Test match. Rishabh Pant was ruled out of wicket-keeping duties on Day 3 of the match after sustaining a knee injury. Pant left the field after being struck on the right knee during the 37th over of New Zealand’s innings, which resulted in him missing a stumping opportunity against opener Devon Conway.

As play commenced, substitute Dhruv Jurel stepped in to perform wicket-keeping duties alongside captain Rohit Sharma and the rest of the team. After Rishabh Pant’s injury, there were some clouds of uncertainty looming over his participation in the IND vs NZ 2nd Test and Dhruv Jurel replacing him. However, head coach Gautam Gambhir has provided an important update on the same.

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir provided a positive update about wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant’s availability in the second Test against New Zealand in Pune. The former Indian cricketer said that the 27-year-old will be keeping wickets in India’s match against the Kiwis and that there are no fitness concerns with him now. As a result, Jurel’s is likely to sit out for the IND vs NZ 2nd Test.

Absolutely,” Gambhir said on Wednesday when asked if everything was fine with the wicketkeeper-batter. “I think he’s going to keep wickets tomorrow. (There are) no other fitness concerns,” he added.
