Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin anticipates receiving a dinner invitation from his teammate Cheteshwar Pujara. The Indian cricket team is preparing for the 3rd Test against England in Rajkot, Pujara’s hometown.
However, Pujara won’t be participating in the Test match as he is currently not part of the Indian squad, which was announced on Saturday, February 10, for the final three Tests. The teams are currently on a 10-day break between the 2nd and 3rd Tests, with the series tied at 1-1, making the upcoming Rajkot Test crucial for both sides.
Ashwin, in a statement on his YouTube channel, mentioned Pujara’s significance as a legendary Indian player who recently completed 100 Test matches. Reflecting on Pujara’s hospitality, Ashwin recalled an instance during the 2016 Test series against England when Pujara hosted a special dinner for the entire team at his home in Rajkot.
“A certified Indian legend who recently concluded his 100 Test matches. We’ll be playing in his place (home ground). Ravindra Jadeja, Saurashtra. The Rajkot stadium is his home ground, but he is from Jamnagar,” said Ashwin.
“Let us wait and watch if Cheteshwar Pujara invites everyone to his home for dinner.” Ashwin concluded.
Despite not being selected for the ongoing Test series, Pujara has been displaying exceptional form in the current edition of the Ranji Trophy, demonstrating his enduring passion and commitment to representing India through consistent performances.
