WI beat BAN Highlights – West Indies Survive, Bangladeh crashes out: A clinical bowling performance from West Indies has helped them stay alive in the T20 World Cup. The defending champions survived in the ongoing T20 World Cup after finally tasting victory in their 3rd attempt. Andre Russell delivered with the ball as Bangladesh required 13 runs off the last over. Bangladesh skipper Mahmadullah scored 31 off 24 balls but failed to finish off the innings. West Indies will next play Sri Lanka and Australia. They can enter the semifinals if Men in Maroon can win all their remaining group stage matches.

Bangladesh out of semifinals race-

  • On the other hand, Bangladesh mathematically crashed out of the semifinals race in Group of Death. They will now look to play spoilsport for other teams.
  • They completed a hat-trick of losses in the tournament. They had earlier lost to England and Sri Lanka and stay at the bottom of the points table.

Earlier, cracking innings from Roston Chase (39) and Nicholas Pooran (40) coupled with a late blitz from Jason Holder and Kieron Pollard helped West Indies to score 142 runs in the allotted 20 overs. The duo also shared the only fifty partnership of the innings.

Bangladesh bowlers were very impressive throughout the innings as they continued to take wickets. Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam and Shakib Al Hasan took a couple of wickets each. No other batsman except Chase and Pooran could get going despite trying hard in Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
