The upcoming IPL 2024 clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur promises a unique spectacle as the in-form Royals prepare to adorn a special pink jersey for the occasion.
This move follows in the footsteps of other IPL franchises who have previously sported special jerseys for various causes. Notably, RCB has promoted environmental awareness by donning green jerseys, while Gujarat Titans raised awareness about cancer with their Lavender jerseys during IPL 2023. Additionally, Mumbai Indians showcased solidarity with their women’s team by wearing their jerseys in the same edition.
Why will RR wear pink jersey?
This change from their traditional attire is part of Rajasthan Royals’ #PinkPromise initiative, aimed at supporting empowered women from rural Rajasthan who are driving significant societal change.
For the RR vs. RCB encounter, every ticket purchase for match No. 19 will contribute Rs. 100 towards supporting women-led rural transformation initiatives in Rajasthan. Furthermore, proceeds from the sale of each all-pink Royals jersey will go towards the social equity efforts of “The Royal Rajasthan Foundation.” Additionally, in a novel initiative, every six hits during the match will result in the illumination of six homes in the Sambhar region with solar power, courtesy of the Royals and the Royal Rajasthan Foundation.

RR aim to keep gaining momentum
In terms of performance, Rajasthan Royals have enjoyed an unbeaten run in IPL 2024 thus far. Victories against Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians have propelled them to the top of the table, and they aim to maintain their winning streak against RCB.
Conversely, RCB has struggled in the season, with three losses and only one win, which came against Punjab Kings. Their recent defeat to Lucknow Super Giants highlights the challenges they face as they prepare to take on the formidable Rajasthan Royals in their next fixture.
