Why were BCCI commentators and crew wearing black armbands on Day 2 of the Ranchi Test?

The unfortunate death of a valued member of the BCCI production crew was the reason for commentators wearing black armbands.

Another riveting day of the India vs England Test series came to an end. On an action-packed day, something peculiar piqued the interest of fans. During the second day of play in Ranchi, the BCCI commentator panel and production crews were seen wearing black armbands. However, the reason why isn’t something fans know.

As it turns out, a tragedy was the reason behind it. The BCCI lost a valuable member of their family earlier today. Kamalanadimuthu Thiruvalluvan, or as friendly would call him, Thiru, was a cameraman who worked with the BCCI for many years.

Seen as one of the best sports cameramen in India, Thiru was working during the WPL 2024 season opener between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru. He finished the match yesterday and, unfortunately, left the world earlier today. To pay tribute to one of the oldest employees, the BCCI paid tribute to him by wearing black armbands in his honor.
