The International League T20 (ILT20) have blamed the broadcasters for the change in the schedule of the play-off matches. As per a league sportsperson, the broadcasters requested a change to design to ‘build momentum and intensity’. On Saturday, the league had announced the interchange in the dates of Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator.
Broadcasters wanted change in ILT20 play-off matches schedule
An ILT20 spokesperson told ESPNCricinfo the change was made on the grounds of a request from the broadcaster.
“[It was] to build momentum and intensity for the playoffs and the finals, and thereby build even higher viewership for the matches.”
MI Emirates booked their spot in the finals of the tournament after beating the Gulf Giants by 45 runs in Qualifier 1. Meanwhile, the Giants will now face Dubai Capitals in the Qualifier 2. The Capitals made their way to the Qualifier after beating Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the Eliminator.
