Pacer Arshdeep Singh was left out of the squad picked for IND vs BAN 1st Test despite being touted to make his Test debut in the series. Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the pace battery comprising of Siraj, Akash Deep and Yash Dayal. As per reports, Arshdeep was left out of the squad because of certain reservations of the selectors.
Why Arshdeep Singh was ignored for IND vs BAN 1st Test
As per TOI, the team management had ignored Arshdeep Singh despite being keenly interested to pick him. He has been reportedly excluded because the pacer has played very little red-ball cricket over the last two years. Along with Arshdeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed has also been left out of the squad.
“Khaleel Ahmed has been made to play red-ball cricket regularly since last season. The team management was keen on Arshdeep too but he has played very little red-ball cricket in the last couple of years,” a source told TOI.

The report further claims that the selectors did not want to ‘throw young bowlers in the deep end’ and that the idea was to give them some exposure. Despite being consistent in domestic cricket, Yash Dayal and Akash Deep have been named alongside the experienced duo of Bumrah and Siraj.
