Para Shuttler Pramod Bhagat is not a part of India’s Paris Paralympics contingent, which started on August 28 with a mega opening ceremony. India had high hopes from him as he was the gold medalist in the Tokyo Paralympics at the last edition. However, it was a huge setback for India, with Bhagat missing the Paris Games.
Why Pramod Bhagat not playing Paralympics 2024?
Pramod Bhagat is not playing in the Paris Paralympics due to an 18-month suspension for breaching the BWF’s anti-doping whereabouts clause.
“The Badminton World Federation can confirm India’s Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat has been suspended for a period of 18 months and will miss the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games,” the governing body stated August 13.
“On March 1, 2024, the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) Anti-Doping Division found Bhagat in breach of the BWF anti-doping regulations for committing three whereabouts failures within 12 months.”
