Yashasvi Jaiswal will be a hot topic for discussion when India travel to Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Having made his debut last year, Yashasvi has already played 9 matches for his country and will play a crucial role against the mighty Aussies. The 22-year old will be facing the Australian Test team for the first time in December.
Since his debut, Yashasvi has been a force to reckon with in red ball cricket. He amassed 266 runs in 2 Test matches against West Indies, his debut series. He was a bit our of form in the 2 Tests against South Africa scoring just 50 runs. But, his best came against England.
At home he piled up a massive 712 runs from 5 matches with a highest score of an unbeaten 214 run knock. And ahead of the India vs Australia series, Yashasvi will get some much needed practice. Save the Duleep Trophy, he will get 2 matches against Bangladesh and 3 matches against New Zealand.
“There’s a lot of talk about that, isn’t there? He is an exciting young player, and certainly one to watch, but he would be to me one of those examples. He hasn’t played in Australia, or at least he hasn’t played in Perth in a Test match on a wicket that bounces. So, his ability to adjust his game to those conditions in some sense might be a barometer as to how India will go through the series,” John Buchanan said, as quoted by The Times of India.
With runs under his belt and in a rich vein of form, Yashasvi will be ready to fire on all cylinders at Down Under.
