Bangladesh has excluded Shakib Al Hasan from their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. The country’s best all-rounder has retired from Tests and T20Is; however, he had stated that the Champions Trophy would be his last series for Bangladesh. Despite this, he was not selected in the squad for the tournament.
Why Shakib Al Hasan not playing in the Champions Trophy 2025?
The all-rounder is currently suspended from bowling in top-level cricket due to an illegal action and recently failed a second independent assessment of his bowling. His omission from the Champions Trophy squad likely signals the end of his ODI career.
The last time Shakib played cricket for his country was during the Test series in India last year. Because of the political unrest in Bangladesh, Shakib was also unable to play in his “farewell Test” against South Africa in Mirpur. He also did not play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
