Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will trade their traditional red for green as they face Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 Match 28 on Sunday, April 13, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Normally hosted at their home ground in Bengaluru, RCB’s Go Green game will take place for the second consecutive year away from the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This is due to the absence of a 3:30 PM IST match at their home venue in this season’s schedule.
Why RCB are wearing green jersey today?
Each season, RCB sports a green jersey for one match as part of their “Go Green” campaign, which began in 2011. The initiative aims to raise awareness about environmental concerns, especially the need for tree planting and combating global warming. On this special day, RCB’s captain presents a plant to the opposing captain as a token during the toss. Additionally, the green jerseys worn by the team are made entirely from recycled materials.
RCB Record in Green Jersey
RCB has played 14 matches wearing it. Out of these, they have managed to win only 4 games, while losing 9, with 1 match ending in no result. Teams batting second have had more success, winning 8 of these matches, compared to 5 wins for teams batting first. RCB’s highest total in a green jersey came in 2016 when they scored a massive 248/3 against Gujarat Lions, while their lowest was a disappointing 92 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2021.
