Why Ravindra Jadeja not playing Duleep Trophy is good news for Team India?

Ravindra Jadeja withdraws from Duleep Trophy ahead of India vs Bangladesh Test series - how can it be good news for the hosts?

Ravindra Jadeja has been withdrawn from the Duleep Trophy. The ace all-rounder will get an extended break before the start of the IND vs BAN Test series. So now the question arises, what is next for Ravindra Jadeja? After the India Cricket Team won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Jadeja announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game. So now his focus will turn to ODIs and Test cricket.

Ravindra Jadeja has pulled out of Duleep Trophy. However since his withdrawn has taken at such a time that the team won’t be able to bring in a replacement. But in the grand scheme of things, it is good for Team India. Ravindra Jadeja is probably one of the first names that goes into the India Playing XI.

If all-rounders is considered then Jadeja is the first name that comes into the picture. And rightly so he continues he to be ICC World Number 1 all-rounder in Tests. And ahead of the India vs Bangladesh Test series, a lot will rest on Jadeja’s shoulders.

With India’s pace department being depleted, the onus will be on Jadeja. Not only with the ball, but Jadeja will have to take control with the bat as well. With Tests happening on home soil, the spinners will get much assistance. And this is where a player of Jadeja’s calibre thrives.

In slow and turning pitches, Jadeja brings out the best in him to deal a hefty blow to the opposition. And finally, Jadeja is a ace batter when facing spinners. As has been evident over the years, Jadeja has the knack of hitting big shots and playing recovery innings if the top order falters.

Therefore, Jadeja getting an extended period of break will be good news for the player. This will help Jadeja being fresh and fit as India prepare for the upcoming two match Test series against Bangladesh.
