2023 World Cup Schedule: The BCCI and the PCB continue to be at loggerheads at one another. With both the parties not being able come to an amicable solution so far has directly/indirectly been responsible for the delay in the issue of the 2023 World Cup Schedule.
As reported by InsideSport earlier, the World Cup Schedule is likely to be released next week. However, coming to the root cause in the delay is the ongoing tussle between the apex cricketing bodies of the two arch rival nations.

Last week the draft schedule was released by the ICC and both India and Pakistan were asked to submit their feedbacks on the same. Initially, it was known that the schedule was supposed to be released following the conclusion of the WTC Finals.
As per the draft schedule that has been released by the ICC last week, the tournament is set to kick off on 5th October with last session’s finalists, England and New Zealand.
India on the other begins their campaign on 8th October and faces the mighty Australians. The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match has been drafted on 15th October with the stadium likely to be Chennai.

Coming to the Pakistan team and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the duo have quite a few complains and feedbacks on the World Cup Schedule. Pakistan had made it clear that they will not face India in the opening game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad citing safety issues and thus as a result Chennai has been selected as the venue for the his high profile game.
Further more PCB has also claimed that they are not comfortable facing Afghanistan in a spin friendly track in Chennai and Australia in Bangalore and have asked ICC to reverse the venues for the fixtures. The BCCI on the other hand rejected the suggestions laid by PCB. With ICC mediating between the two bodies, this has been the root cause of the delay and the schedule is likely to be released next week.
