The BCCI has begun their search for the new head coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Should a new head coach be appointed, VVS Laxman is the best bet for the Men in Blue. The director of NCA has been doing a fine job and has guided the second string of India side in quite a few tournaments.
But most importantly, the testament for his coaching attributes will be done when India tour Zimbabwe on July. Just following the ICC T20 World Cup, Rahul Dravid’s contract expires. And it is quite natural, that Laxman would lead the charge of the Indian side when to go to tour the African nation.
As has been the norm, Laxman has managed the side when Rahul Dravid has gone for a break, like most recently during the India vs Australia series, just after the ODI World Cup.
VVS Laxman’s record as India coach
VVS Laxman has managed the India Team in ODIs and T20Is. He holds a good record in leading the Indian side. His biggest exploits came in the 2023 Asian Games where India went on to clinch the gold.
In T20Is, Laxman has managed India in 8 games, winning 6, losing 1 and the other game being a tie. In ODIs, Laxman has lead the Men in Blue on 9 occasions, winning 5, losing 2 and the other 2 matches yielded no results.
