In cricket, you just need to be on top of your game at all times. This applies not just to the players, but the broadcasters and commentators as well. Even the slightest of mistakes on AIR is pointed out soon on social media. Something similar happened with West Indian Ian Bishop, who was commentating, when Virat Kohli scored his fifty against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday.
Virat Kohli Scores Ton, Ian Bishop Goofs
In a rare brain-fade moment, Bishop went on to say that, ‘Virat Kohli completed his 50 in just 39 balls’. But a fan rightly pointed out, that on a batting track, it wasn’t ‘just 39 ball’, but a sizeable number of balls. To be fair to Bishop, he took accepted, that he didn’t make the right choice of words. Eventually, Kohli ended with 113 from 72 balls only, but in a losing cause. Bishop wrote on X, “I take an ‘L’ on that one.”
More on Virat
“I am very aware of what T20 batting entails, and my insertion of that word was inaccurate. My choice of words and language in keeping with the format of the game needs to be more accurate and it will be going forward.”
