N Srinivasan and his family will continue as the owners of Chennai Super Kings. The news comes after CSK no longer becomes a part of the India Cements. The reason being India Cements Ltd’s acquisition by UltraTech Cement. But CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has claimed that since India Cements and CSK are two different entities, India Cements no longer controls the CSK team.
Chennai Super Kings are one of the most successful IPL franchises. With 5 IPL titles under their belt, they are the joint most winners alongside Mumbai Indians. But the ownership has no seen a change after the corporate transfer between India Cements and UltraTech.
Initially, it was understood that after the acquisition, 33.72% of the stake would be transferred to the Aditya Birla group. But that is not the case now.
“Chennai Super Kings and India Cements are different entities. India Cements no longer controls the CSK team. The team is run by a company called Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL),” Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz.
Back in 2015, the CSK was no longer a part of India Cements. Despite the takeover, UltraTech knows for a fact that the company won’t have any control over CSK.
