Currently, he is seen as the frontrunner to captain LSG in IPL 2025, although nothing has been confirmed yet. When LSG bought him for a staggering Rs 27 crore, it signaled LSG’s desperate need for a reliable wicketkeeper-batter for the upcoming season. With a decent record as captain of DC, having led in 46 games with 23 wins, there is still room for growth. However, given his young age and potential, LSG seems likely to invest in him further. Nicholas Pooran
In recent times, Nicholas Pooran has been one of LSG’s favorites. Not to forget, KL Rahul was unavailable in 2023, and Pooran took on the captaincy role. Retained for INR 21 crore, Pooran is a strong candidate for the position. Although his chances seemed stronger before Pant entered the fray, Pooran’s experience leading the West Indies team adds to his credibility. There’s no doubt he is one of the top contenders for the captaincy. Known for his batting prowess, especially as a finisher, Pooran not only excels with the bat but also has the potential to be a reliable captain as well.
Mitchell Marsh
This Australian all-rounder is also a strong option. Mitchell Marsh, who is set to join LSG after being acquired for INR 3.4 crore, is known for his stylish batting and delivering crucial overs when the team needs him most. His ability to control runs is a key asset. Additionally, as the T20I captain of Australia, Marsh brings immense experience from leading a world-class side, which he can leverage in this camp as well. This makes him one of the best candidates for the captaincy role.
