India women’s cricket team coach

Former Mumbai captain and known as the domestic doyen, Amol Muzumdar, is the current coach of the Indian women’s cricket team. Muzumdar, who was born in Mumbai, made his first-class debut in the 1993–94 season of the Ranji Trophy. On his debut, he scored 260 runs against Haryana, bringing him into the spotlight.

The right-handed batter has an incredible domestic record, with more than ten thousand runs to his name in 171 games. Muzumdar has scored 11,167 runs with an average of 48.13, including an impressive 30 centuries. He played for Mumbai and Assam and was nicknamed the ‘next Tendulkar’ when he burst onto the scene. However, despite his remarkable record, he was never awarded an Indian cap during his career.

Many people say he was the perfect example of being born in the wrong era, as players such as Mohammed Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid cemented their places as top-order batters when he came onto the scene, ultimately leading to his being lost in the crowd.

He was also appointed as a batting coach for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL for three seasons, 2017–18, 2018–19, and 2019–20.
