Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a major setback ahead of their home clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), as Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. The right-handed opener sustained an elbow fracture, which has sidelined him for the rest of IPL 2025.

MS Dhoni is set to captain CSK once again in IPL 2025. As CSK take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai this Friday, the spotlight will firmly be on the legendary skipper. Dhoni has already led the team to five titles and could announce his retirement if he secures a sixth. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of IPL with fracture on elbow. MS Dhoni to take over as captain,” Fleming told mediapersons on Thursday. Gaikwad sustained the blow when he was hit by a short ball from Jofra Archer.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of the season due to a hairline fracture of the elbow. MS Dhoni to lead,” the CSK said in an official statement.
