The Indian Premier League, apart from gathering the best players all around the world in one place, produces quite a few rags-to-riches stories each year. Shakib Hussain is once such instance in IPL 2024. Hailing from Gopalganj in Bihar, the 20-year-old fast bowler did not have means to buy bowling spikes once upon a time. However, his life changed dramatically when he was bought at Rs 20 Lakh by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 auction.
Shakib comes from a farmers’ family and is known to bowl with electric pace. His performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali made the IPL franchises sit up and take notice of the fast bowler. After going unsold in the first round of the auction, Shakib revealed he did not watch the second round of auction.
