Jharkhand’s young cricketer Robin Minz fetched big amount as he was picked by Gujarat Titans for Rs 3.6 crore at the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday.
Originally from Gumla, Robin Minz was first scouted by Mumbai Indians in July this year who then selected the young wicket-keeper batter for Mumbai Indians’ UK tour. Robin ,who is yet to represent Jharkhand in Ranji trophy, sparked a bidding war between Mumbai, Chennai, Gujarat and Hyderabad at the auction. Gujarat Titans emerged as the highest bidder as they swooped the 20-year-old for 3.6 crore.
Robin, who is also called ‘Left-handed Kieron Pollard’ in Jharkhand is the first ever tribal cricketer from Jharkhand to play in IPL. He has been a regular player for the Gumla District Cricket Team for the past six years and is a member of the Jharkhand U-17 team.
