Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star bowler Asha Sobhana has made her debut for India in the 4th T20I match against Bangladesh at the Sylhet on Monday. The 33 year old spinner has become the oldest women player to make a debut for India.
She set a new record surpassing Seema Pujare, who made her debut for India at 31 years old in an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2008 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

Who is Asha Sobhana?
Asha Sobhana began her cricket journey at 13, inspired by watching former India spinner Neetu David’s performances on television.
She earned a spot on the Kerala senior women’s team. Despite her selection to the India ‘A’ squad in 2012 and 2018, she faced challenges advancing to the senior national team. However, after an impressive performance in WPL by taking 12 wickets in 10 games, she received her maiden call-up for India squad.
She received her debut cap from her WPL captain and Indian batter Smriti Mandhana at the age of 33, which itself is a motivation for many.
