G Kamalini came into the limelight after a bidding war during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction on December 15. The batter was bought by the Mumbai Indians for a hefty sum of Rs. 1.6 crore. However, what many may not know is her special connection to the Chennai Super Kings.
In the ongoing U19 Women’s Asia Cup, G Kamalini stole the show with an unbeaten 44 off just 29 balls in a match against Pakistan. Her current performance could have also played a major role.
What is Kamalini connection with CSK?
The Wicketkeeper batter has special ability to spin the ball as well. The All-rounder in true sense has trained in the CSK’s Academy in Chennai as she plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic season. She has been a product of Super King’s Academy, however, they did not pick him while she will play in Mumbai agaisnt CSK in the upcoming season.
Kamalini impressive performances
Kamalini showcased her batting prowess by scoring 311 runs in eight matches, leading Tamil Nadu to victory in the U19 Women’s T20 Trophy in October. She further cemented her reputation with a brilliant knock of 79 in the U19 tri-series final for India B against South Africa. Currently, she is in Malaysia, preparing to represent India in the inaugural U19 Asia Cup, which kicks off on Sunday.
