Who is Akash Deep?
Akash Deep made his debut earlier this year against England. The right-arm bowler’s growth has happened slowly but steadily. Coming from Bihar, his love for cricket took him to Bengal, where he nurtured his talent, especially since there was no cricket in Bihar after the Bihar Cricket Association was dissolved in 2008 due to alleged financial irregularities.
He made his T20 debut for Bengal in 2018 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and became an asset for the team, doing wonders for them, whether in the Ranji Trophy or in the semi-final, where he took a five-wicket haul against Madhya Pradesh. He also had incredible four-wicket hauls in two tour games for India A against the England Lions, boasting a total of 116 wickets in 32 games, which is an impressive record. This success led to his debut against England in Ranchi, where he claimed three wickets with several maidens.
Now, after the Duleep Trophy, where he took a five-wicket haul and a total of nine wickets for India A, he has once again rung the selection bells for the Bangladesh 1st Test. Once again, he rises above the ranks.
