Who has scored the fastest 50 in CPL history? Andre Russell leads the list with his 14-ball fifty

One of the most destructive batters in the world, Andre Russell, came in when his team was 201-5 in 17.4 overs in the 3rd match of CPL 2021. With just 14 balls remaining, Russell went berserk.

The all-rounder smacked Wahab Riaz for 32 runs in the 19th over, hitting four sixes and a four in an 8-ball over, taking his individual score to 30 off 8. In the final over of the inning, Russell hit two sixes and fours each and took his score to 50 on the final ball of the first inning.

The right-hander’s record still stands, and knowing his hitting prowess, he can be the one to break it as well.

JP Duminy (15 balls)

South African southpaw JP Duminy held the record for the fastest half-century in the Caribbean Premier Leagues before Andre Russell. The special knock occurred in the 23rd match of the CPL 2019.

Duminy came into bat at number 3 when his side was 110-1 with 37 balls remaining. The left-hander scored 65 of the team’s 82 runs in the final six overs to take his side to 192.

The Proteas batter struck the ball at 325 with seven sixes and four boundaries, leading his side to a convincing 63-run win.

Evin Lewis (17 balls)

Chasing a mammoth 242-run target, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots opener Evin Lewis slammed the then-fastest CPL half-century.

Known for his big hitting, Lewis took the Trinbago Knight Riders bowlers down. By the time Lewis was out, he had given his side the start they needed.

His 53 of 18 balls saw St Kitts end the powerplay with 89 runs. His side ultimately won the match with seven balls to spare, and Lewis was given the man of the match award appropriately.
