Which teams picked Harmanpreet Kaur and Shreyanka Patil in the WBBL draft?

India’s Harmanpreet Kaur, who did an amazing job in the Women’s Big Bash League in 2021 by becoming Player of the Tournament, will she be playing in WBBL 2024?

With 14 WBBL games and 321 runs scored, but now the Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur went unsold in the WBBL 2024 draft. The Indian skipper had no takers, which came as a shocking snub for many, especially after seeing 6 Indians secure Women’s Big Bash League contracts in the 10th edition. After playing multiple seasons for Sydney Thunder and consistently performing well as a top-order batter, it is now clear that she will not be part of any WBBL team. She was one of the 19 players from the country included in the draft but did not find any takers.

Harmanpreet, who has played for Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades, is now completely out of the league. It is interesting to note that last year she was the only Indian to play in the WBBL. To date, she remains the only Indian to win the Player of the Tournament (POTM) award in 2021. She scored 399 runs in 11 innings for Melbourne Renegades, with a strike rate of 135.25. Kaur was also the leading wicket-taker for the Renegades with 15 wickets at an economy rate of 7.46. Although the team failed to qualify for the final, with Adelaide Strikers ending their campaign in the playoffs, Harmanpreet came out on top.
