What would happen if one of the best all-rounders went unsold in the first round of the IPL auction? Well, that’s exactly what happened to one of the finest Kiwi stars, Glenn Phillips. His batting, bowling, and fielding are all at the top of the game, yet surprisingly, in the cash-rich IPL mega auction, no one went for him initially. But how could anyone overlook such a player? So then in the accelerated auction, Glenn Phillips came in front of many franchises once again. Although once again not every team went for him, but he was eventually picked up by a team that needed all-rounders like him for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. That’s right, it was IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans who went for him and acquired him for the upcoming season. GT needs more players who can perform exceptionally well, especially a bit lower down the order, where the pressure is higher. There is no question that Phillips will be a key player in the upcoming edition.
Glenn Phillips IPL Salary
As mentioned, not every team went for him in the accelerated auction on day 2 as well, but GT got him at his base price of INR 2 crores, which is surely a steal, as many expected him to fetch a bigger amount before the auction. Previously, Phillips was with SunRisers Hyderabad, where he was purchased for INR 1.5 crores.
