Which stadium holds a special place in MS Dhoni’s heart after Chepauk?

MS Dhoni reveals his second favourite stadium after Chepauk, sharing fond memories and special aspects of various Indian stadiums.

Over the years, MS Dhoni has played for Chennai Super Kings, and the MA Chidambaram Stadium, also known as Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, has become more like a home for him. One stadium that he loves the most is Chepauk, where he has received immense support from the fans as he plays for Chennai Super Kings. Recently, in an interview with Jio Hotstar, MS Dhoni shared his favourite stadium apart from Chepauk.

MS Dhoni on his favourite stadium

MS Dhoni believes that he gets support at all the stadiums in India, apart from Chepauk, but he considers Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to be one of the iconic grounds. It is his second favourite because he has had some great memories there. “Well, I wouldn’t say I have a second favourite because we get the same kind of reception almost everywhere. In Mumbai, I have a soft corner because in 2007, when we won the T20 World Cup, we came back here and got a very warm reception. The 2011 final was also here, and there are a lot of memories, so it has a special place in my heart.”

MS Dhoni on Eden Gardens

MS Dhoni said that it’s impossible to dislike any ground in India since all the fans support him here. Talking about the specialities of Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and Eden Gardens in Kolkata, he said, “Even if you’re playing in Bangalore, the crowd is amazing; they’re very loud, and all the noise stays inside the stadium. In Kolkata, big capacity crowd; the same is with Ahmedabad now. So, it becomes very difficult—who will you pick? Because they come with all their heart, they support the teams, they support cricket. Chepauk is special because, with the whistle, they are very loud.”
