Some teams have more followers on social media, while others receive stronger support in person. However, in this new report, the popularity of each team was determined by general sports fans and their preferences.
A survey was done on Sports Audience who has spent at least 30 minutes watching sports material on TV or OTT over the past year. The survey estimates that there are an astounding 67.8 crore sports fans in India.
Most popular team in the IPL
According to the Ormax Sports Audience report, the most popular IPL team is Chennai Super Kings (CSK), with 18% popularity among sports audiences. Mumbai Indians (MI) have the second-highest base with 16%, while Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ranks third on the list with 13% popularity.
