The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to host its 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 29, 2024, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru. It is expected that there will be a few major developments, as the BCCI has already announced elections. The process began on September 7, with members being asked to file applications to nominate their representatives. These election stages will continue until the AGM on September 29, when the results will be announced. It is noteworthy that the AGM date coincides with the inauguration of the state-of-the-art National Cricket Academy (NCA) center.
Who will replace Jay Shah as BCCI Secretary?
Jay Shah, who has done an incredible job as BCCI Secretary, is set to move to the ICC as President and is expected to take charge from December 1. This means the BCCI will need a new secretary. While many names have been suggested as potential successors to Jay Shah, there is no confirmation yet. It is noteworthy that the discussion about the new secretary may not take place during the AGM on September 29, as Jay Shah is still leading the BCCI and is expected to hold the position until November.
Among the potential successors are Rohan Jaitley, the current DDCA President, and Ashish Shelar, the BCCI Treasurer. It will be interesting to see whether the new BCCI secretary will be announced soon or if we will have to wait for Shah’s successor to be confirmed.
Who will be the next President of BCCI?
As mentioned, the AGM is a platform where many updates occur, from the Secretary position to various member roles. Regarding the BCCI President position, Roger Binny currently holds the role. There are significant chances that he might serve another term, despite his age (69), which is approaching the upper limit for administrative roles. Still, we might see the 1983 World Cup-winning member continue as President once again.
