When was the last time India was whitewashed at home?

India is on the verge of losing the third Test match against New Zealand, following their 2-0 series loss in the IND vs. NZ series.

Having already lost the series at home for the first time in 12 years, India now fears a whitewash in their own fortress during the IND vs. NZ Test. The series currently stands at 2-0 in favor of New Zealand, and in the third Test, India finds itself in a precarious position to lose once again. If they suffer another defeat, they will be completely outclassed by the Kiwis. Let’s take a look at the last time India faced a whitewash.

In the third Test of the IND vs. NZ series at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India posted 263 runs in their first innings, while New Zealand scored 235 in theirs. India will need to perform at their best in the second innings to win this match and avoid a clean sweep.

When was the last time India was whitewashed at home?

The last time India lost a Test series at home was against South Africa in February and March of 2000. A five-match ODI series followed South Africa’s two-match Test series tour of India. Additionally, this was the only occasion in which India lost every Test series game at home.

The infamous match-fixing scandal tainted this trip, resulting in numerous players receiving suspensions and bans, including Mohammad Azharuddin, who was given a life cricket ban.
