Former India cricket team Test captain Virat Kohli had revealed that only one person had texted him after he had relinquished Test captaincy in 2022 and that was MS Dhoni. Now, the ex-Indian captain has spilled the beans on his equation with Virat and why he decided to drop him a message while no one else did. Back then, Virat had said that neither MSD or him suffered from insecurity, adding that both of them shared a genuine connection.
Why Dhoni decided to text Virat Kohli in 2022
During an event, Dhoni was asked about his equation with Virat, citing his message to the ex-Indian skipper in 2022. In response, MSD admitted that while he was not great in keeping in touch with people, he said that he was available to drop in a message at times when they needed someone.
“It’s deja vu. I was asked a similar question recently; you will see the answer during the IPL. I’m not great when it comes to being in touch with people but yeah, certain times when someone needs you, you just drop in a message,” Dhoni said.

What Kohli had said about Dhoni
Back then, Kohli had said that while a lot of people had his number, none but Dhoni had bothered to reach out to him. He had said that suggestions if given in front of the world instead of being told to him individually held no value.
“Let me tell you one thing: when I left Test captaincy, I got a message from only one person, with whom I had played previously; that was MS Dhoni. Many people have my number. On TV, people give lots of suggestions; people have a lot to say. But none of the people who had my number sent me a message,” said Kohli.
