India’s young talent Shubman Gill made a T20I debut in a match against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium just a year ago.
Shivam Mavi had also played his maiden T20I match with Shubman in the same match. Both earned T20I caps for their performances in Indian Premier League (IPL).
Shubman has played 13 T20I matches and scored 312 runs at an average of 26.00. The right-handed batter has a T20I century with the highest knock of unbeaten 126. He has bagged a fifty so far.
In 2023, Shubman Gill was the highest run scorer in IPL with 890 runs in 17 matches. He had hit three hundred and four fifties in the tournament. He scored runs at an average of 59.33 and a blistering strike rate of 157.80.
In his debut match, Shubman was dismissed by Mahesh Theekshana at seven runs. India went on to win the match in the last over by just 2 runs.
Batting first, India gave a decent total of 162 with the help of Deepak Hooda’s explosive unbeaten 41 knock of just 23 balls. Sri Lanka dragged the match to the last over but failed to clinch a win.
