Harsha Bhogle has finally met up with fellow commentary legend Peter Dury in London. In what started as a fun Twitter conversation last month, reached its full conclusion on Thursday evening.
Bhogle is currently part of the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 (WTC Final 2023) which is taking place at The Oval. While Peter Dury resides in the UK so it was a comfortable meet-up for the two comms’ greats.
On the night of the UEFA Europa League Final, Sony Sports Network posted Peter Drury’s conversation with Adriande Lmonte, in which he confirmed his meet-up with Bhogle. During the open discussion, the well-known British pundit also alluded to Harsha Bhogle as his “hero”.
When Harsha Bhogle met Peter Dury
It was at an Indian restaurant, named Chourangi in London that Harsha Bhogle met football commentary great Peter Dury. The duo enjoyed the tasty Indian food at the restaurant while talking about football, cricket, and all things in between.
Bhogle and Peter were accompanied by three more people.
“Fabulous evening talking football, cricket, broadcasting and so much more with the genial #PeterDrury. (That food was for 5 by the way!). Thanks for hosting us #chourangildn,” Harsha Bhogle wrote as a caption while sharing the photo of him and Peter Dury.
Here’s how Jim Beglin made the cross-over happen
A fan tweeted Bhogle asking whether he would be interested in meeting Drury, and that’s how it all began. The famous football analyst from India expressed his desire to one day meet him. Fans were quickly drawn to this, which sparked interest in the future meeting.
Another well-known pundit, Jim Beglin, intervened to facilitate the meeting after noticing the fans’ enthusiasm. Beglin acknowledged the practical difficulty of bringing the two pundits together and said that either Bhogle or Drury would have to fly to England or India. He did, however, admit that he would talk to Drury about the proposal.
Bhogle revealed his intentions to attend the World Test Championship final at the Oval, heightening the anticipation even further. Beglin took note of this and declared that he would happily go to the stadium with Drury and arrange a meeting between the two renowned commentators
