When David Warner smashed double hundred on his 100th Test in 2022

On this day, David Warner scored double hundred, playing his 100th Test match in MCG against South Africa.

Australian legend David Warner was playing his 100th Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground against South Africa when he smashed a double hundred, becoming the second batter to do so.

On the second day of the second Test, he silenced his critics by scoring his first century since January 2020. Facing the intense heat and the exhaustion of the opposition bowlers, he battled the weather to make it to 200.

The 37-year-old also crossed 8,000-test run landmark, becoming the eighth Australian to do so.

The Australian batter had scored a double hundred off 254 balls, including 16 fours and two sixes. And he retired at 200, suffering from cramps.

Match result

With David Warner’s double century, Australia heaped a comfortable win by an inning and 182 runs. Australia had posted 575/8 in their first inning, while the Proteas were reduced to 189 and 204 in both innings.
