What’s next after IND vs SL series snub? Selectors keep Yuzvendra Chahal on hold

Not the end of road for Yuzvendra Chahal! BCCI Selectors keep ace spinner on hold ahead of Champions Trophy, ready to see player perform well in domestic cricket

Another bilateral series and Yuzvendra Chahal is not in the scene. Chahal was a part of the ICC T20 World Cup squad but wasn’t featured in any games. As per latest reports, the selectors have placed Chahal on hold in his pursuit of getting a place in ODIs and T20Is. His latest snub comes in the upcoming IND vs SL T20I series.

Chahal wasn’t considered to be a part of the ODIs. What is even surprising that he wasn’t considered for the T20I series too. Almost an year back, Chahal last played a T20I game and more than a year and a half in ODIs.

No chance for Chahal?

As for the BCCI Selection Committee, Chahal needs to wait for his chance to get featured for the Men in Blue. In IPL, Chahal has been performing consistently. Banking on his success for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024, Chahal was selected to be a part of India’s squad in the T20 World Cup.

But Axar Pate and Ravindra Jadeja, and then Kuldeep Yadav took over the spin department. This essentially meant, Chahal had to warm the bench. And now for the IND vs SL series, while Jadeja is rested, Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar are the front runners to take up the spot in the Playing XI.

Currently, the selectors believe that Chahal has to play domestic cricket well to again be in contention. Ahead of the England series and then the ICC Champions Trophy, Chahal would be desperate to perform well in Vijay Hazare Trophy to put forward his name for the taking.
