Former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq opines that Pakistan should stick to the left-right opening combination for the T20 World Cup. The Men in Green head into a series against England after a successful tourney against Ireland as they prepare for the marquee event. Misbah reckons Pakistan should open with Saim Ayub at one end and either Babar Azam or Mohammad Rizwan on the other end.
Misbah’s solution for Pakistan’s openers in T20 World Cup
Speaking on Star Sports Press Room, Misbah-ul-Haq points out that it will be beneficial for Pakistan to have one opener who goes all guns blazing while the other anchors. The former skipper feels that young Saim Ayub will lead the onslaught while Babar or Rizwan can anchor from the other end. He further notes that while Ayub’s form isn’t great at the moment, he should be more consistent during the course of the marquee event.
“I feel that the best opening combination, looking at the team, would be a right-left combination. That would be ideal. They are currently playing Saim Ayub, who is not delivering at the moment. I feel that different kind of players – Saim on one end and Babar or Rizwan on the other end – can compliment each other well,” Mishabh said.
