Currently, ECL 2024 is generating a lot of hype after witnessing a few exciting matches, making it the talk of the town. So, what is the Entertainers Cricket League? Here’s what you should know about this league, which is currently on everyone’s lips.
What is Entertainers Cricket League?
To bring out cricket talent from popular social media influencers and content creators, the ECL has been organized. Surprisingly, it is not a 20-over competition; it is a unique T10 cricket tournament. Fans will see their favorite social media personalities taking the field and looking to do something special for their teams. Here, six teams are participating: Munawar Faruqui is leading the Mumbai Disruptors, singer Abhishek Malhan will lead the Bangalore Bashers, and YouTuber Elvish Yadav is leading the Haryanvi Hunters.
ECL format
Speaking about the format, as mentioned, it is a 10-over competition. We will see a total of 19 games, all hosted at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. It will follow a round-robin format, where each team will play their opponents once. Following this, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs. A total of 15 league matches are scheduled apart from the playoffs. In the inaugural ECL match, Haryanvi Hunters defeated Bangalore Bashers by 2 wickets, successfully chasing down a target of 179 runs. In the second match, Munawar Faruqui’s Mumbai Disruptors won by 50 runs against Lucknow Lions.
