Saving India from the clutches of defeat, Dinesh Karthik played a 29-run cameo off just eight deliveries in the finals of the Nidahas Trophy in 2018

Who can ever forget Dinesh Karthik’s heroics in the finals of the Nidahas Trophy against Bangladesh from 2018? Saving India from the clutches of defeat, DK played a 29-run cameo off just eight deliveries. Karthik ensured that the team got across the line with a six off the final delivery of the innings, bowled by Soumya Sarkar.

Reliving Dinesh Karthik’s Nidahas Trophy knock

The video of Dinesh Karthik‘s knock from 2018 was uploaded by Sri Lanka Cricket team’s channel six years ago. It has 243 million views to date, thereby becoming the most-watched cricket video to date.

Dinesh Karthik’s illustrious career in IPL

Dinesh Karthik played for six different IPL clubs during the course of his 17-year career. He debuted with the Delhi Daredevils (now the Delhi Capitals) in their inaugural season in 2008. He moved to Punjab in 2011 and thereafter played for the Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and RCB.

It was Karthik’s second spell with RCB. In 2015, he made his debut after winning the auction for ₹10.5 crore. However, he struggled with the bat, accumulating only 141 runs in 16 matches. The guy from Tamil Nadu never gives up. He continued returning in one way or another to remain one of the only seven cricketers to feature in every edition of the IPL since its inception in 2008.

Dinesh Karthik finished the current season with 326 runs in 15 matches, an average of 36.22 and a mouthwatering strike rate of 187.36.
