CSK lost the title to Rajasthan Royals in 2008, the inaugural season of the competition. Since then the Yellow Brigade has gone onto win four IPL titles and had four more runners-up finishes. MS Dhoni led CSK won back to back championships in 2010 and 2011 before coming up short in 2012, 2013 and 2015 seasons. The Dad’s Army as they were referred to in 2018 captured the IPL title for the third time after serving 2-year-suspension. A year later, CSK lost to MI in a closely fought IPL final in Hyderabad. The last time CSK entered the final was in 2021 where they ended up winning the trophy beating two time champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.
