Australia is poised to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy again after more than ten years after a decisive 184-run victory in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. With a 2-1 series lead, they can still qualify for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 cycle with just a draw in the New Year’s Test at the SCG.
The defending WTC champions need only one victory to join South Africa in the final and defend their championship with three Test matches left, including the SCG encounter and two in Galle, Sri Lanka.
The team captained by Pat Cummins is optimistic going into the series finale, riding high on momentum. They are the obvious favorites to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and strengthen their WTC campaign because of their outstanding play.
