‘What has Ponting got to do’: Gautam Gambhir blasts Ricky Ponting ahead of Border Gavaskar Trophy

As things stand, Virat Kohli is yet to slam a century in Test Cricket in 2024 calendar year

Ahead of the much anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy, India Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir has hit back at Australian legend Ricky Ponting. Gambhir has criticized the Australian legend for focusing on the Australian Cricket Team and not worrying about Indian cricket.

Ricky Ponting recently commented on how ace batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli haven’t been performing well. Gambhir has put his absolute trust in his players, defending the veteran duo in the press conference before flying off to Australia.

Gambhir hits back at Ponting

What has Ponting got to do with Indian cricket? I think he should think about Australian cricket and more importantly have got no concerns whatsoever for Virat and Rohit. I think they are incredibly tough men. They’ve achieved a lot for Indian cricket and they will continue to achieve a lot in future as well,” Gautam Gambhir said in the Press Conference.

Gautam Gambhir has claimed that he has his absolute trust in the two batters. Albeit not performing well in the past two-Test series, the Indian head coach believes that the ace duo will perform well in the coming days.

Both Rohit and Kohli have been in the spotlight for their poor form. Virat Kohli especially has been really poor, managing just a single fifty in red-ball cricket in the entire 2024 calender year. Hopes are high from both the top order batters to perform well in Australia as India’s chance of reaching the WTC Finals hugely rests on the shoulders of both the batters.
