Many things came into the spotlight in Round 1 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Firstly, Punjab’s Amolpreet Singh emerged as the star batter for his team. He smashed the third-fastest List A century in just 35 balls, leading Punjab to a nine-wicket win over Arunachal Pradesh, who were restricted to 164 in just 12.5 overs. On the other hand, the top-quality Mumbai side struggled but managed to seal a 3-wicket victory over Rajasthan, chasing a target of 216. Thanks to Ankit Bawane, who became a top run maker with an unbeaten 74*, also Siddesh Veer made 43 and Nikhil Naik 46. Vijay Hazare Trophy Format
The tournament follows a single round-robin format with a total of five groups, where each team will play against their group members once. Every team will play seven matches, and the top ten will advance to the knockout stage. The schedule for the quarter-finals is set to begin on January 11 and 12 in Vadodara. The carnival will continue with two semi-finals scheduled for January 15 and 16, and the winner of this Vijay Hazare Trophy edition will be decided on January 18.
