Now, coming back to MS Dhoni’s IPL salary, it could see a significant reduction if he is retained as an uncapped player. Under the current IPL retention rules, uncapped players can be retained for INR 4 crores, but not more. This means that Dhoni, who has been earning INR 12 crores from IPL 2022 onwards, would see his salary drop to INR 4 crores if retained as an uncapped player. This represents a drop of approximately 66.67%, equating to a loss of INR 8 crores.
Dhoni himself has mentioned that it will be interesting to see how things unfold for him in the next season, as the evaluation of the retention policy is conducted.
