What are PCB’s proposed venues for the Champions Trophy?

The Champions Trophy is coming. Pakistan, which hasn’t hosted an ICC event since 1996, can they host the event fully. If so, here are their proposed venues for the tournament.

Eight international teams are expected to captivate Pakistan’s crowd with their cricketing abilities as the ICC tournament is set to return to Pakistan after 1996. No ICC tournament has taken place there since then. Whether India will travel or not remains the only question for now. However, the PCB has already started their preparations, from announcing tentative match dates to confirming venues, all arrangements seem to be in place from their side.

Speaking more about the venues, after long hours of meetings, they have selected three possible venues. According to ESPN, they have already sent a proposal to the ICC following the ICC team’s important tracking, conducted according to protocol.

So, what are the venues that have been decided? For now, it is pointless to confirm these venues as possible changes may occur if Pakistan doesn’t get the full hosting rights. The venues could be shifted to Sri Lanka or the UAE, although nothing is clear at the moment. India’s matches could be held outside Pakistan. However, for now, the three venues likely to host the matches of the Champions Trophy are.

It has also come to light that the PCB recently approved an almost $12.80 billion amount provided by the ICC to upgrade all the venues. This is one of the reasons why the National Bank Stadium will see no fans for the second Test match scheduled to start on September 1 between Bangladesh and Pakistan. As part of the Champions Trophy preparation process, the PCB is also planning to install floodlights at all three possible venues, but on a rental basis to save costs.

The ninth edition is expected to be special as, after a long time, the Champions Trophy is returning to the Asian continent. Matches are scheduled from February 19 to March 9, with 15 games over two weeks. The most awaited game between India and Pakistan is proposed to be held on March 1 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where India’s ODI record is impressive with 13 wins in 20 games. There is no doubt that this will be a mouth-watering game. If things go well, it is possible that India may tour Pakistan to clinch its third Champions Trophy silverware.
