West Indies players were spotted wearing the Black Lives Matter logo on their jersey collar during the IND vs WI 1st Test that begins on Wednesday in Dominica. The West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite came out for the toss with the logo printed on the left collar. The logo is reportedly has been approved by ICC and the home side will spot the logo in both the Test matches.
West Indies’ Black Lives Matters support not first time
Notably, the Caribbean side has voiced their support for Black Lives Matters ever since the death of American George Floyd. They first wear the logo on their shirts during the three-Test series against England in 2020.

In 2020, then-captain Jason Holder talked about the team’s stand on racism and said that it was a ‘pivotal’ moment for the team.
“This is a pivotal moment in history for sports, for the game of cricket and for the West Indies cricket team”, Holder said.
“We did not take our decision lightly. “We know what it is for people to make judgements because of the colour of our skin, so we know what it feels like, this goes beyond the boundary.
“There must be equality and there must be unity. Until we get that as people, we cannot stop.
“We have to find some way to have equal rights and people must not be viewed differently because of the colour of their skin or ethnic background”, he added.
West Indies opt to BAT in IND vs WI 1st Test
Taling about the IND vs WI 1st Test, WI openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul have provided a cautious start to the home side. West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and opted to bat first. For India, Mohammed Siraj has looked threatening so far. Yashavi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan have been handed their Test debuts.
